This is the 2nd version of Colour Magic Sindy that I got. She came in the box and is quite minty, she just has a tad of blue in her hair. I adore this outfit.

1986 Bunches Sindy (Miss Sindy?)

I won this little cutie pie mainly for the Disco Magic skirt that came with her. An actual doll with bunches (aside from Jazzdance) was never released officially! After a bit of digging me and a few fellow Sindy fans came to the conclusion that she will have been a Miss Sindy released in late 86 using factory stock. It makes you wonder what they where planning before her face was changed yet again for the Hasbro 87 girls.

Here is my beautiful new Starlight Sindy. Starlight was released in 1985 with the traditional face and then again in 1986 with a slightly different style jumpsuit! I think she is so cute! The shiny material didn't show up well on the camera?

On the box she has a side pony tail with crimped hair much like the 1985 versions, however the finished doll just had loose curls with no ponytail (I put my girls in a ponytail)

1987 - City Girl

City Girl Sindy was one of the last Sindy's I remember getting. Me and my sister got one each on the same day. There are 2 versions of this doll the other being dressed in pink & purple which my sister has. I like these Hasbro Sindy's but they where to only last 2 years before she changed again and looked far to much like a cheap Barbie!

Prior to the new release of dolls, you can make out Barbie to the right and Jem and Golden Girl on the left both of which I had as a kid. *Dreams of getting a time machine*

And the shelves updated with the new 86 girls Jazzdance and Mark .

By this period Toy N Hobby was the big store in my home town so there was a lot more 86 dolls to chose from. I remember that Saturday very well visiting Toy N Hobby to see the new face Sindy. Me and my sister nearly died of heart failure!

Here's Jazzdance Sindy in her new fashion from the 1986 Miss Sindy range. It's pretty cute but no where near the quality of the earlier 80's ranges. The peeptoe shoes are also very cute but don't fit too well as you can see. I never had many (if any) of the '86 clothes so this is a nice welcome and at £6.62 mint on the card you can't grumble. I will scan the packet in when the main PC is repaired.

The 1982 Skater is a doll I have wanted for a long time. While not the prettiest of my Auburn girls she is just so... Me. I loved my roller boots as a kid, and when I got my walkman in 1984 I would stay permantly stuck to it for the next 25 years, although it's an i-touch now LOL!

1983 - Holiday Girl

This girl was a surprise, a huge surprise. The seller whom I got all the last lot of dolls from sent me this as a surprise due to a few setbacks. I knew a surprise was in the box but I just suspected an outfit or something. At the bottom of the box was Holiday Girl BOXED! Wow, she is not a doll I would have bought but now I have her... She only seems to have lost her sunglasses but is so cute with a small head which is hard but not as hard as some hard heads.

I was only saying last week to another Sindy fan that I should get a short haired Sindy, then here she is!

Most of the dolls I have posted today are all from the same seller who I met on e-bay. I have been saving for a while to get all these dolls including this little lady.
He coloured her hair red and is a beautiful red too. She looks so original and I love Red Headed Sindy!

I loved this Ballerina as a kid, however I think she was Pamela's originally.
This Sindy is just so cheeky, I got her boxed at a great price and I love her, one of my favourites from this year! 2 Outfits was just genius with this girl to make her more 1986!

As I was changing her into her Ballerina outfit I noticed what she was smirking at, her leotard is rather low and revealing! Cheeky scamp!

A Little more dignified in her ballerina outfit which was used on the 1985 Blonde ballerina too. Those little arm things are a devil to come by these days.

1986 Magic Moments was a Sindy I remember very well as a kid. If you put her in warm water her hair changed blue and her swimsuit changed pattern AMAZING huh, I thought so. I remember even the hairdryer worked to change it blue. When I had done it maybe 200 times her hair went a kinda green blue for ever!

It's difficult to find one in this condition as her hair has been unchanged. It has a very light blue tinge in some lights. I LOVE this outfit, it's so cool, I find it very flamenco hence the pose!

Non of the 1986 fashion range ring any bells with me so I don't know if we had any as a kid, my Sister may have got some but I think I was into Jem at the time so may have overlooked them.

For me personally the 84 Ballerina is one of the prettiest.

You can sport her a mile off with her larger head, full pink lips

My beauty even still has her hair tied in the original style and is fresh from the box.
I didn't get her in the box, she came to me like this. Boxed Ballerina's go for £150+ so they are not in my price range! THis little lady was a bargain and a Birthday treat to myself!

I am still looking for the Brunette 84 Sindy with the white outfit so if anyone has one spare...

1986 - Snow Princess

1986 Snow Princess is a doll I never owned as a kid. I had most of the '86 range however never seemed to get the more deluxe dolls from any year of dolls in fact?

The chance to own this doll came up when I had some spare cash from my Jem doll sales, I don't know much about her either but I have the feeling she is a rarer doll.
My Mum kinda helped me get her as she really liked her (Which she doesn't normally say to be honest)
I don't know anything about why there was a Snow Princess either as it seems an odd thing to just come up with? Maybe there was something out around the time?
If anyone has any more info on her , please let me know.

Quite a memorable fashion from the 83 Casuals. I got this quite a lot later than my other 83 Casuals and it was a freebie. It was mint on the card however the very nice seller noticed a mark on the dress and refunded the price. It seems to suit my pretty Auburn haired Sindy.

Well this is one half of 1984's feeling fit. My sister loved the other half of the fashion so put it on one of her dolls and then fluttered her eyelashes at me. So it's now Pamela's LOL!
I will photograph it next time I am at my Mum's as her Sindy's are going to live there for when we both visit together!
To be honest thisa fashion is not as fun as it looks, the jogging suit is huge and looks like a romer suit and Pamela struggled with the other fashion too!

I never was a keen ball gown kind of kid, I never got any of the deluxe fashions or dolls like Masquerade or Premiere either. As a grown up these fashions are just beautiful.
I won Masquerade a while ago but I don't really like her original outfit so when I won this I knew who it would suit.
It comes complete with the hair combs (which you can't really see).
Unfortunatly the beautiful backdrop is not my yarden (Yes yarden, a garden and a yard lol) it's my Aunty M's stunning garden!

1980 Boxed Fashions - Summer Nights

This is one of the earliest fashion items from the Sindy range I can remember wanting. I don't know if I had it originally but I had to have it either way. I remember seeing it in a toy shop. It must have been a few years after it came out as the toy shop was only opened in 1983 if I recall.

It's totally the cutest bedtime fashion I have so far. My Aunty M added the bears for fun and I think they look great.

So I have now sold all my Hot Looks dolls, well except for Mimi who I had originally back in 1987. They will be flying the nest in early July...bye girls.

So what do you replace Hot Looks with, you guessed it Sindy!

I have some really nice dolls coming my way over the next month that I have saved with some great sellers.

A few girls will be getting upgrades too so watch this space.

1986 Brunette Sindy update

1986 - Doubles

Sindy 'Doubles' where released in 1986: There where 4 fashions released which could be reversed to create a new look. The catalogue pictures differ slightly from the actual released fashion.

I was lucky enough to win this removed from card fashion with my Disco Magic Sindy.

I thought my beautiful Marie would suit it the best.

The fashion is sadly quite poor in quality with no real effort (I feel) put into the design from Pedigree at the time. The pink flimsy material quite clearly shows the other pattern underneath, even on the official box photo's.

This is the reveresed side, again I don't know who picked the material but it is more a nightdress patteren to me.

My thoughts on the range are they are rushed, along with the Disco Magic range, I think Pedigree where either competing against Hasbro's Jem line or had already been taken over by Hasbro and where grooming the idea of Pop Star dolls and reversible fashions to the children at the time prior to Jems release. Barbie had been using the reversible fashion idea since 1984 with the beautiful "Twice as Nice" range (Click Here to read more about that range)

1986 Disco Magic Sindy Auburn Haired

My pretty new auburn haired Disco Magic Girl arrived yesterday. She came in a 86 reversible fashion, but I didn't like it on her.

I dressed her in a Jem fashion called 'Like A Dream' which is similar to her original fashion she would have come wearing.

Her hair is quite hard to style but is in good condition for these dolls at it often looks like wire wool!

She is very cheeky looking, like most 86 'smirky's' as they are known.

Onm the subject of Smirky's I forgot to mention this little lady I picked up in a BIN on e-bay for £4.99.

It Turned out to be 86 Jazzdance!

I am still waiting some 86 clothes so popped her in 85's Shaping Up Sindy's similar outfit for now. She has great hair!

1986 Disco Magic Sindy

1986 was a big doll year for me and a big year for Sindy. Jem was released in October 2006 and caused ripples in the doll market with its huge sales promotion.

I for one was fascinated with it's feature length film and casette tapes issued with each doll!

I loved Pop music so to have dolls that could sing songs was amazing for me.

"The Changing Face of a Legend"

After many years of looking the same, Sindy had had a facelift in 1986, presumably (and this is my own personal presumption) following a quiet year after a huge onslaught from camp Barbie in 1985/86.

Pedigree released the new look Sindy in 1986, some a re-hash of 1985 dolls (Starlight, Jazz-dance) Also in late 1986 was a set of Sindy dolls called Disco Magic. The Disco Magic dolls where released in 3 different hair colours, Blonde, Auburn and black. They all had pink bangs and where issued in funky fashions.

A set of Disco Magic fashions where also released but I have heard these are quite cheap and flimsy.

These dolls have been really hard to find out much information about however as the images from that years catalogue only shows some regular dolls with the fashions on so they must have only been at the early development stage?

Since investigating these dolls I have come to some conclusions about the Disco Magic range.

Pedigree was bought by Hasbro sometime in 1986/87, the date I am not sure of. Hasbro had a highly popular pop star doll out in late 1986 called Jem. Jem had pink hair, her own band & boyfriend as well as a rival band. Hasbro's 'Jem' dolls also had a full set of reversible fashions to create different looks for its duel character Jem / Jerrica. Jem was a big doll for me in 1986 & 87, while I still collected Sindy I don't really remember a lot about the range due to the Jem line.

It does seem a little odd that Pedigree had a set of 'pop star' dolls with pink in their hair that year too, and even a set of reversible fashions.

I do wonder if Pedigree knew about a pending takeover from Hasbro so had been asked to rush out a set of dolls to get kids into the idea of a pop star doll? The dolls are not of the best quality so I find them a little rushed. Either that or they had found out about Jem prior to their late '86 release. Mattel had found out about Jem prior to the release and had rushed out a set of dolls by the name of Barbie & The Rockers (or Rock Stars as they are known in Europe) which where also similar to Jem.

1986: The Elusive Brunette Sindy

From the year Sindy was introduced, she had always had a blonde, brunette and often an auburn haired version.
The most elusive of these hair variants are from 1986, or are they?

During my time as a child I always loved blondes and the occasional auburn. My Sister loved the brunettes and that's how we played. When I started back on my Sindy quest in January 2009, I had no idea that a brunette 1986 Sindy ever existed, but after some research I found out she did.
When the 1986 range changed the face of a legend, I for one was captivated. After a year of being distracted by Barbie I returned once again to Sindy.
I got starlight, Ballerina, Funtime, Jazzdance and many more but never a brunette to be seen as I am sure my sister would have got one.

I was checking e- bay a few weeks ago and a I saw a brunette 'Smirky faced' Sindy so I bid and won, That's where my interest started.

For less than £6.00 I won this rather bedraggled lady, the first in my 1986 collection. It was then I started to look for other brunettes in the range. A few Sindy collectors didn't know she existed, however a few had her.

The above picture is Jill's beautiful boxed 'Funtime' Sindy, dressed in a 1985 'Trends' outfit that was also used in 1986. She comes with white heels and a white ribbon.

'1985's Trend Version'

The 'Funtime' range was an easy dress range with a new style body, and non moving silky legs to help younger children dress the dolls.

Also that year the 'Disco Magic' Range was released including more hair colours . I had the 3rd girl from the left. I will investigate them for another posting but I think they where released to compete with or compliment that was also released that year.

You may wonder how my Sindy came out after a make over, well here she is...

I have ordered a couple of 86 fashions to dress her in so I will display her fully in the 3 fashions I have bought soon.

Since finding this stunning brunette, she seems to be popping up a lot now on e-bay, hopefully we will see more of this 86 range popping up on e-bay as it is fascinating.

1986: A Sindy reflection.

For me personally, being a child at the time, 1985 was a poor Sindy year.I had loved the 1983 & 1984 range and had nearly everything on offer, so what happened in 1985?

BARBIE ATTACKS:

For me personally, Mattel's Barbie in the UK stepped up their game in 1984, yeah sure I had some older 1982 Barbies, but nothing was as great as the 1984-85 lines. With beautiful deluxe dolls such as Peaches & Cream Barbie, Crystal Barbie, Loving You Barbie, Day To Night Barbie and the amazing 'Twice as nice' reversible fashions how could Sindy keep up?

The whole 1985 range from Sindy was rather insipid with lots of pastels, Barbie was OTT and full of "Dallas" glamour. Even with the highly talented Emmanuel's on board with Sindy, nothing could detract you away from the Hollywood styled Barbie. Saying that there where a few amazing Sindy's released in 1985 such as Shaping Up & Premiere Sindy!

PEDIGREE BITES BACK:

Presumably Pedigree must have noticed something too as 1985 was the last year that we saw the traditional Sindy and it paved way for a new Sindy...

A new face mold was used, she still Had the eyes glancing to the side but her lashes where painted and she had a touch of blue eyeshadow.

I remember seeing Sindy in her new form with my Sister in Toy & Hobby sometime in 1986, Barbie was instantly dropped again. The plan had worked...for me anyway!

They had been very clever (whether intentional or not) and had used some of the old idea's on the new dolls such as Starlight Sindy and Jazz Dance Sindy (See picture to the left), who was an updated 1985 Shaping Up Sindy.

On that first day of mad panicstood in Toy N Hobby trying what to pick, I went for a totally new doll 'Marie', I think Pamela chose the Ballerina or Jazzdance I forget.

The ballerina now came with 2 outfits, which boosted interest and Marie was a new friend with a totally new face mold.

A new hair colour changing Sindy was also released in Magic Moments Sindy. Her hair and swimsuit would change colour with heat or warm water. Not the most attractive doll ever but I loved her outfit. Her hair also turned green after constantly chaning it from muddy brown to blue with the hairdryer for fun!

Marie or Sindy also got a boyfriend in the form of the rather dull Mark, Mark and Marie were sold both individually and as a couple in the Royal Wedding set made to commemorate Prince Andrew and Sarah Fergusson's Marriage.

Also released that year where the disco magic dolls, who look shockingly a bit like Hasbro's Jem who also arrived later that year. Mattel had already known of Jem's arrival so created Barbie & The Rockers (Or Rock Stars as they are know in the rest of the world) as a counter doll. Presumably Pedigree knew of these dolls as it was to be taken over by Hasbro the following year when Sindy would change again!

I've had a nice few Sindy day's.

My Sis came up with the kids for a few days, so once they where in bed it was time to show my sister what I had got recently. I knew I wanted to swap some stuff and give my sis some extra's.

After a while of bartering, my sister made out like a bandit of course with the 2 Fantasia outfits traded for a complete Autumn Stroll. Fab.

I also wanted to swap my 2 sad faced dolls with Pam as she loves them. Sadly she forgot her dolls in the whirlwind that is sorting out 2 kids for a trip to Grandma's so no real swapsies as yet!

On Thursday morning a Parcel arrived, I wasn't expecting anything so was slightly puzzled. I then rememebered Gill from e-bay was going to (very nicely of her too) send me some extra freebie's. I opened the box to find a nice 80's Sindy and some extra clothes and shoes.

Sindy did need some work, so when I got home I gave her a bath and then decided what to make of her.

I kinda thought she had a look of Quick Change (Readers of my blog will know she is a total fave and I would love her boxed or loose but minty)

So She is now living life as Quick Change, and with a splash of makeup she looks pretty darn fab! Thanks Gill!

Later I was looking around on e-bay and noticed that A brunette Smirly was also finishing soon with a low bid, I had overlooked her as the last boxed brunette went sky high as the brunette smirky's are few and far between!

I bid expecting a fight on my hands, admittedly it was in the last 45 seconds that I did bid (Thankfully I sold 4 Madonna's CD's that day!)

I won her for just over a fiver, how made up! I can't wait for her to arrive so make her over. But what will she wear, I have no 1986 clothes?

1982's Quick Change was a doll I soooooooo wanted as a kid. With her spare changeable head and magic colour pens. I still want her now but she is pretty HTF in the box and a tad pricey.

I won these variant lilac top and trousers for a £1, I just love them as they are so DISCO, I need some roller boots on her ;). The outfit is perfect for Marie with her lilac eye shadow.

1985 Style "Texas Rose"

I have explained in previous posts about my 1985 lapse from Sindy to Barbie, so it comes to no surprise that this cute outfit is a first for me. I don't think I would have chosen it as a child anyway.

It really appealed to me when I started re-collecting.I think it's the high waisted trousers (Eat your heart out Simon Cowell). It's a good name Texas Rose as it does have a very Texan vibe to it. Beach Party Sindy was the first choice for this outfit as it really compliments her dark hair and vibrant red lips.

Checkmate is another '84 Boutique fashion that escaped me as a kid.

While it's not my favorite fashion from 1984, it is still a cute dress and the straw hat really makes the outfit. My Dad was particularly fond of the hat when this outfit arrived!

We had this fashion as kids as the trousers are quite memorable. The top is a very delicate pink and a very delicate top so I would suspect it was ruined quite quickly.

I had all these Casuals as a kid, as with most of the '84 range.

I think the checked one above is quite mad with matching top and trousers but hey that WAS the 80's.

I love the red trousers with the high waist, I think they are my favorite from these 3.

I don't know why, but Brunette Beach Party (centre) always looks shocked in pictures, bless!

1985 Fantasia

2 Cute fashions from the '85 Fantasia range. I must note they where really hard to get on (for any one that struggles with arthritis like me)

I didn't have much of the 1985 range in fact only a few outfits, when I look at the Barbie collection from '85 I see a lot of stuff I had so I guess Barbie was getting the monopoly in the UK at the time.

I guess thats why Sindy was relaunched in 1986, I look at that '86 range and we had it all nearly so I guess that Pedigree plan worked with me for a while anyway...until Jem came along in late '86.

I didn't have many from this range, I think they style was defiantly changing in the mid 80's as there are not really many dramatic fashions here. The only fashion I recall having was the green shorts suit from "Style"
Looking at a Barbie leaflet from 1985 http://barbievjem.blogspot.com/2008/12/barbie-world-of-fashion-leaflet-1985.html I think Barbie had won me over as I had a lot from that range with the cool dolls and twice as nice fashions.
I do like a lot of these fashions now, I only think I would go for the "Style" range.

I never had this dress as a kid, god knows why as it's stunning. I had nearly everything else from the 84 range. Another beautiful fashion thanks to Linda and special thanks to Barbie (Who paid for it LOL)

1985 Cut N Style / Dazzling Sindy / Haute Coiffure

The funniest thing happened to me...it starts off "I was drunk"

I had just completed my own Dazzling Sindy, see below posting, however I decided to bid on a boxed one on e-bay as it was super cheap which I knew I was not going to win.

Cut to a few days later and I won her as no one else had bid, I was so surprised £25 bargain!

I put my girl on e-bay and sold her for £23.00 so I was happy. My boxed girl arrived today.

She is super cute!

She looks amazing in the first picture, although I have a different necklace on my doll than the one pictured. I think the same one as Masquerade Sindy.

I was also really inreagued to see the spare hair and leaflet that came with Sindy. I remember having her as a kid and sending away for some spare hair.

99p for spare hair including posting, wow cheap or what. I think I got 4 . They took ages to arrive if I remember.

Another 1984 Boutique fashion. I didn't have this a kid as it is quite conservative and more an office fashion. My Sindy's never worked, they partied LOL!

I won this together with Metalic Mover so it was a bargain. I am concentrating on collecting 1983 & 1984 so I am quite pleased I got this at a bargain price with the hard to find belt which is the same material as the top so doesn't show up that well!

1984 Beach Party (Aurburn Haired)

I know I have already posted a Beach Party Sindy, but this girl is very special. I love aurburn haired dolls so to have my fave doll in aurburn is so cool. I infact won her cheaper than both the blonde & brunette. She turned up like a wild woman and a bit dirty and smelly but she scrubbed up beautifully. I love her!

She is pretty easy to spot with her long side parted hair.

Another fab 1983 'Boutique' fashion that I did have in the past. Again Sindy is off to the disco and leaving behind her Conservative 'Coffee Morning' early 80's behind her. Not the right shoes here but they will do until I get some others. The fashion seemed to scream for Blonde Starlight Sindy to wear it with her 80's disco crimped hair!

This little fashion is often mistaken for 1980's City Shopper, I know I made the same mistake. I did however discover a cute little 'seperates' fashion that I may have never picked up. It was super cheap too which is always good. I don't remember if we had this so if we did we must not have liked it much back then in the mid 80's.
I think it looks great on good on old 'Red' here. She seems to suit the more conservative early 80's fashions. These early 80's fashions are certainly appealing more to me than the later 80's so do expect more to come as I would like City Shopper!

Cut N Style to Dazzling Sindy

I loved 1984's Cut N Style as a kid when I first got her as a kid, so I couldn't wait to get her again.

I won her practically complete from e-bay but I was kind of dissapointed with her as her hair had been snipped and didn't look too fab. http://sindyland.blogspot.com/2009/03/1984-cut-n-style.html (See my older posting)

I had also discovered that they had re-vamped Cut N Style in 1985 put her in the seperate fashion "Dance Crazy" and called her Dazzling Sindy. I really don't remember seeing her as I am sure I would have got her? Perhaps other dolls took preference like Shaping Up Sindy & Starlight Sindy? This was Sindy's last year as we had known her so maybe Pedigree where using up old stock before 1986's re-vamped Sindy? Lots of stock was already being used on the budget priced 'Miss Sindy' dolls.

Anyway a Sindy friend Nic contacted me to see if I wanted to trade my Sindy head for one she had. Nic had aquired a doll to re-root but her hair was beautiful and she didn't want to cut it.

We decided to trade heads and dresses, so now Cut N Style has been transformed (With much thanks to Nic) to Dazzling Sindy. She looks so much better and I am totally happy with her now.

I have always loved that shimmery material used for this dress

A beautiful boxed brunette Sindy doll by Schuco, ref: 14-4624. She is the same as “You & Sindy” by Pedigree from 1978, except she was manufactured by Schuco in Germany under licence from Pedigree, much as Marx dolls were in the USA. She comes complete with a ballerina-style Sindy
display stand, and a Sindy leaflet (to be scanned in soon)

She is totally cute and smells new!

I loved this fashion as a kid displayed on my pretty blonde Beach Party Sindy, always a favorite as a kid too. I think it's quite 80's/Madonna inspired with the cloth dress and sting vest. The only problem with this fashion is it looks like a maternity smock without that little belt!

Aurburn Haired Sindy

I always loved Aurburn Sindy, me and my sister called her 'Ginger Sindy' when we where kids.
We only had one, her arms dropped off on a holiday to Cleveleys, she lived for few days in the motocycle outfit to hold her together. For some crazy reason we then decided to give her a sea burial? We blew up the Sindy tent and sent her off into the sea at Cleveleys? Why we didn't just take her home and swap her body is beyond me but kids do the carziest things right?

I recently got my Sister a 'Ginger Sindy' when I got some dolls for her. Once I had set off collecting myself I wanted one myself.

I won this little lady off e-bay, I maybe paid a bit too much thinking about it now but...
She was not the best described and looks better in this picture than the stinky thing that arrived.

A trip to the salon and a deep cleanse later and Sindy scubs up well.

Her hair is more chestnut to be honest, a little dry at the ends but she will do for now until I get an upgrade.

I decided she looked good in the 1979 Dinner Date dress that I got with Styling Sindy, as her original dress had also arrived I decided that they should have a picture together.

Marie was Sindy's friend in 1986, I thought she was beautiful. There where 3 versions of Marie. Marie in a Blue & White Suit,

Marie in a Black & Green number and "Royal Wedding". The Royal Wedding delux set was Sindy's friends Mark & Marie and cashed in on the real royal wedding that year of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. I had all 3 versions of Marie back in 1986 and have just re-aquired the first Marie.

I hae had to put her hair in a ponytail as she had wild out of box hair!
